LGBTQIA+ Advocacy 101:
Moving your church beyond “welcome”

This webinar prepares congregations to discern whether or how to participate in LGBTQIA+ organizing and advocacy. It will begin by interrogating anti-gay texts and then, give overview of what advocacy and organizing looks like.

Led by the Rev. Jason Carson Wilson (he/him), ONA consultant, Vice President, Ministers for Racial, Social, and Economic Justice (MRSEJ), and founding executive director of Bayard Rustin Liberation Initiative.

Rev. Jason Carson Wilson (he, him), an ordained United Church of Christ minister, is the founding executive director of Bayard Rustin Liberation Initiative. Wilson is an ONA consultant and a former United Church of Christ Justice & Peace Policy Fellow. He’s also served as Community Renewal Society’s inaugural Bayard Rustin Fellow. Wilson is vice president of Ministers for Racial, Social, & Economic Justice (MRSEJ), an historically underrepresented group (HUG) of the United Church of Christ and member of the Council of Racial & Ethnic Ministries (COREM). He earned his Master of Divinity at Chicago Theological Seminary. Wilson is earning a Doctor of Ministry at Howard University School of Divinity.
