Multiple Religious Belonging: A Conversation
Rev. Mark Pettis, Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson, and Rev. Dr Peniel Rajkumar
Rev. Mark Pettis, the Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations Manager of the United Church of Christ will convene a conversation about Multiple Religious Belonging.
In 2016, Rev. Dr. Peniel Jesudason Rufus Rajkumar, programme coordinator for interreligious dialogue and cooperation at the World Council of Churches, was the co-editor of the book, "Many yet One?: Multiple Religious Belonging."
The Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson, Associate General Minister for the United Church of Christ, has authored numerous pieces on the subject of Multiple Religious Belonging, including her doctoral dissertation, entitled, "SINGING A NEW SONG: AFRICAN CARIBBEAN PEOPLE AND THE PRACTICE OF RELIGIOUS MULTIPLICITY—THE DUAL EXPRESSIONS OF AFRICAN-DERIVED RELIGIONS AND CHRISTIANITY."
During this conversation with Rev. Mark Pettis, the Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations Manager for the United Church of Christ, Rev. Dr. Rajkumar and Rev. Dr. Thompson will offer an explanation of what multiple religious belonging means in our world today. The conversation will explore how communities of faith are engaging with this still emerging reality in the national and global faith landscape, and what it means in various communities around the nation and world.
